I spent one miserable night here after booking and paying for a room for seven nights (as well as two additional nights for my wife until I arrived from China). The photos, room descriptions, list of amenities are mostly fraudulent. I booked the "Honeymoon Room" which on the website claims to have a city view. When my wife checked in they told her that room was an inside room with no windows, and that a window room would cost more. The manager tried to charge her for the two nights she stayed before my arrival even though she made clear that I had booked and paid for her room on Expedia in advance. He made personal insults when she objected including accusing her of not being able to afford paying. Here is a list of what I learned about the Sunflower after I checked in:
* The mattresses are old, uncomfortable, and filthy. Mine smelled of urine. The pillows and bedding are not up to any acceptable standards.
* There is dirt and mold in the room and especially in the bathroom.
* The television did not work.
* There is no breakfast, let alone room service as stated on Expedia.
* The room descriptions cannot be trusted. Expect bait and switch tactics.
* The manager is crooked and looking for any excuse to make money beyond booking payment. He also seems to think he can intimidate women.
Please understand that my room was non-refundable, and that upon leaving in the morning I was out $180 dollars. Expedia should remove Sunflower immediately from its' site.

This place was literally the worst place I've stayed in my 2 months in asia so far. Staff are not friendly at all. Took forever to check in because the guy at front desk was busy making what looked like fake ID's.. Then tried to keep our passports on arrival, which i said hell no, kept asking me when i was leaving, tried to get me to cancel my Ha long bay tour to purchase their package which was shorter, way worse and more expensive. Advertised complimentary drink upon arrival and free breakfast in the morning, both were a complete lie. The rooms smelled like mold, had exposed wires running through the room, broken walls with holes, unfinished exposed drywall, broken windows screwed shut and very bad bathroom setup. Then as we were leaving a guest who had also booked who was in the lobby heard our complaints to the desk guy, came outside and told us they were trying to charge him 10 times what his online booking had said. Again to reiterate my point, this is by far the worst hotel I've stayed in and I've stayed in budget hotel's in 4 different South East Asian countries.
A good hotel to stay for singles. The room I lived in could be more cleaner, especially the walls
- Breakfast ok
- money change ununderstandable. By my third change it was said one price ( as usual) but then, I could change my money to 25 VND less.
- location very good, in the middle of the old city

When I first arrived to this property and was brought to my room I was horrified by how dirty the room felt. The towels were stained, the windows were sealed shut, there was no safe box, there were flies on the walls and bed. I wanted to be out of the room for as long as I could being that I was only spending one night here. The next morning they had told me they would order a cab for the airport but never did and the receptionist was asleep on the couch when I came downstairs to check out. I was charged extra money for a reason I still don’t understand, and the entire experience was horrific. I had stayed at another property upon my initial arrival and it was absolutely exceptional. This was a huge let down. Wouldn’t recommend
Great location and ver nice staff but the small room is not well maintained and has no ventilation. The facilities are a bit unkept and the shower sprouts water in all directions.
