My wife and I were there during Christmas. The hotel is very conveniently located in the Old Quarter and within a minute's walk to St. Joseph's Cathedral where most people gathered to celebrate the festival. The hotel staff is very pleasant, friendly and responsive to our needs. Breakfast is good

Dusche und WC waren zusammen, ohne Abtrennung. Dies ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig und sicherlich nicht ideal.

Checked in late-early hours of the morning. Hotel was locked up and completely dark. Had to walk around to find another hotel to assist us. We were then told that we didn’t have a room and that they were going to take us to a different hotel for our stay. No advanced warning or notification from staff prior to showing up that this was the case. we were then told we would be staying at this other hotel the entirety of our stay. Got a call day 2 that we had to check out and return to splendid star. Hotel was okay but given the poor communication and confusion I will not go back nor recommend to others.
Can’t really say what my experience with this hotel was other than that I was moved to a “sister hotel” called Splendora because apparently they didn’t have a room for me at Splendid due to “maintenance” of the rooms. This was the second time this happened to me in Hanoi, it seemed very planned, and I felt kind of scammed. So, in the future, DO NOT move your guests around like that, there is a reason why most book a specific hotel, and being moved to a different location without prior notice is not good service!
No complaints about the staff/service at the hotel that I was moved to, however, not what I booked, e.g. I did not get a room with a balcony, size was smaller, etc.
Will not book again.

The entire property smells musty. In our room (506), the shower roof was collapsing due to water damage, likely because the aircon units in every room drain directly into a perpetual pool of water on the bathroom floor. I fear the entire property is being water damaged. The staff were friendly and helpful but with the overpowering musty smell in room, lobby, hallway, and elevator, and our family's mold sensitivity we had to check out as soon as we could. The hotel would not refund our room, but kindly comp'ed our airport transfer and cab ride to a new hotel. The staff here are very kind and helpful but the property is becoming uninhabitable due to the moisture and awful musty odor throughout.
Very helpful and friendly staffs! Breakfast buffet has lots of choices and all foods are delicious!

The staff was absolutely amazing. My boyfriend and I stayed 3 nights here, then booked trips to Ha Long Bay and Sapa through the hotel. Between each trip the staff provided us with a place to leave luggage, complimentary drinks and a place to shower, despite us not paying to spend the night. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Hotel Staff kindly and willing to help tourist so much. The room clean and larger than expectation. Location is great and very easy for walking to sightseeing place

The hotel and the rooms where dingy. Breakfast was poor and there were cockroaches under the tables on the breakfast room. The safetybox was a joke, worked with a small key which was easy to copy so didn't feel safe. There was a huge crack on our hotel room door and the stairway was nasty. did not feel like a hotel. There were electrict wires hanging on the wall in our room, there were buttoms missing from the light switch. You had to know to put the heater on on the shower or the water heater did not work and you run out of hot water while showering (no one told us that). The towels were dirty. Personel was nice and helpful atleast till we told that we were not happy with the hotel. The room was good sized but I didn't like to even touch anything or stay there any longer than had to. There was electric insecticide in our room but I was still worried, how many roches or other insects there would be in our suitcase. Some may thing that this is good value for money, but I recommend to choose better hotel and stay away from this one.
2.0 "Doors locked and sent us to different hotel..."
Arrived late evening to check in and hotel doors were found lock, not a good sign after coming off a long flight. Someone from an adjacent hotel which was under the same Splendid group asked us to sit in another lobby while they served someone else. After waiting for over 20 minutes, we were finally assisted to check in but given a room in a different hotel. Questioned as to why this was the case, the guy replied hotel under same owner and all the same. We paid to stay in the hotel we booked not some other hotel under the same ownership.
Room has a musky smell and did not feel comfortable. Would not recommend this hotel group to anyone.
