I appreciate the historical value of the hotel and especially happy with the warmth of the staff and their keen attention to detail.
I’d prefer if the water closet comes with an attached bidet, and I didn’t appreciate how the smoking area outside the Angelina is so close to the swimming pool. It makes swimming difficult and unpleasant.

Iconic property with great history and excellent location.
I was clear about our desire for a quiet room at check in, away from street noise, and was still given a room street side across from a construction zone. Not sure I understand why. Issue resolved on subsequent night and remainder of nights were above expectations. No real apology and no explanation of initial room assignment. No courtesies - drink, discount, etc - offered.

We stayed in this property 7 days / 6 nights and everything was absolutely perfect.
Best location in town, the food is delicious, the Bamboo bar is the perfect place to relax and the staff is out of the ordinary. They go out of their way to please you. Highly recommend this hotel.

the hotel was amazing in terms of comfort, the restaurants were very good and the staff were exceptionally well trained, helpfull and polite, amazingly Bi-Lingual and their presentation was 6 star, however the pool area is very small for so many guests and the children at the pool were noisy than the street outside.

The hotel has lots of character and some great history, walking distance to the old quarter and conveniently placed for local restaurants. We stayed in the historical wing of the hotel which seemed to have nicer rooms.
The pool area and bar is a special place to spend time.
I am sure you will not be disappointed !

Will definitely stay at this hotel if I come back to Hanoi. It is a colonial building located in Old Quarter with an excellent location. Their interesting bomb shelter tour inside the hotel is offered exclusively to hotel guests.

I loved my time at Sofitel, I didn’t want to leave! Everything about my time there was great. The staff were absolutely lovely! The beds were comfy. The building was gorgeous. I will come back and stay here again.

It is an excellent hotel with colonial style, staffs can speak English, very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean. They even offer a free bomb shelter tour with guide and this is not offer to other people except hotel guests.

The most elegant hotel in the world, and that is not a hyperbole. If only daily life could be this smooth. My second time here and it was better then the last, staff service subtle but thorough, food fresh and delicious again and again (The Vietnamese restaurant). Room comfortable and well historically French colonism motif decorated. I could go on but perfection is hard to capture and should not be.

Treated like a VIP throughout the stay. Loved the club lounge, good food and drinks, nice place to relax. The underground bunker tour was provided to my family upon request.

4.0 "Fab place but expensive, expat staff need a rocket"
The metropole dines out on its reputation as the grande dame of Hanoi and they charge for it. However it’s not all perfect. Some of the staff, particularly the expat staff, have a superior attitude and don’t serve, look after tables, or be attentive to guests comfort. In addition, hotels.com and the metropole between them accepted payment in advance from me for two adults and a 15 year old daughter and tried to put us all in a room with a single queen bed in it or charge me for an upgrade. This led to an hour of argument at reception with me insisting to successive levels of management. Not pretty nor welcoming. Also the “brand new” BMW 7 series which we ordered to collect us from the airport and which was the basis of our contract and what I accepted had 100000+ km on the clock and a worn wheel bearing droning away on the highway. Not good. And they still charged me well over 100$US for it. Couldn’t be arsed to argue with them as I had a flight to catch and our taxi was waiting. In summary, lovely environment, expensive, probably a bit too much so to be good value, and expat staff need to managed to give proper attention to guests instead of leaning on the locals, who are by and large good and helpful

Its a very historic property that has been beautifully restored to its original glory. The street is busy so its better to get a courtyard room. The staff is very helpful. They even started updating me on the holiday schedule way in advance.

Nicely appointed in general with French inspiration. Very small room. Staff was pleasant, but they took long when checking in. I recommended to quicken this process as some guests are keen to quickly get into their rooms after traveling so long. Thank you.

This property was an amazing place to stay and the level of service one receives is classic and impeccable. Hanoi is a beautiful city with much to offer, but the hotel and its amenities are so good, one does not even have to leave to be in all the right places.
