Very small room - a ‘classic room’ is apparently an internal room with no outside walls. It was cramped but when we returned 3 nights later we asked for a bigger room.

The hotel situated in the old quarter has a wonderful rooftop bar area with 360 degree views to die for.
The drinks and food are on the expensive side outside happy hour. The breakfast buffet was below par although the service was excellent perhaps a larger budget for the free breakfast is needed by management

Location was awesome, however difficult to access by car in the evening due to the night market.
Staff were helpful and were eager to assist whenever asked.
Buffet breakfast was outstanding.
The only criticism I have is that both rooms we stayed in had an overpowering smell of a deodoriser such as Nil Odour. It was unfortunate, as all other aspects were nice.

Spent 4 nights in this hotel. In the heart of the old town. Lots of nice restaurants and shopping all around. Enjoyed strolling around the lake every evening after dinner.

his is a high-end hotel in the interesting old quarter of Hanoi. There are other hotels and hostels all around but the Tirant seemed to be that step above (and not a chain ). Overstaffed with very friendly and helpful people willing to take that extra step. Room was very nice - no complaints about plumbing, bed or HVAC. Nice to have a balcony to give it that old world feel. Breakfast was in a great location on the roof and was generous but not top quality, to be fair they are trying to serve many nationalities/cultures and cannot get cover all bases with a smaller clientele so no points deducted.
Location is excellent for those looking to visit Hanoi and do local day or overnight trips. They have a helpful tour desk.
Easy for non-Vietnamese: pharmacy, convenience store and groceries within 3 minutes walk. Can get by with English if you are respectful, polite and patient.

Overall it wasn't a great stay. Prior to checking in, we were forced to register for the new year's party ($45 per head), which was overturned during check in. The room allotted to us did not have windows, was dingy and had a weird smell. The AC didn't work initially and was fixed later.

We booked a stay at Tirant after reading reviews here and were not disappointed. We stayed 2 nights and then another night after a cruise trip. The first time, our room was a little small but they gave us a much larger one the second time. Space is at a premium in the Old Quarter so even the smaller room was good.
The rooms are clean and well maintained and I found the beds extremely comfortable with super soft sheets. Had a good rest ! The staff are all great and helpful and friendly.
Breakfast is good amd the service in the restaurant is excellent.
I definitely recommended Tirant for a stay at Hanoi.
Located near great food options in the Old Quarter, Tirant is really comfortable and has friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast is good too and the bed is SO comfy with super soft sheets.

Good central location for the old quarter, views from sky bar over Hanoi. Reasonable breakfast. Staff very helpful, particularly Dom at the travel desk who arranged our 2 day 1 night tour of Halong Bay.

Old, smelly, maximum two stars, clean. We asked change the room, they refused, told hotel is fully booked. Probably other rooms are also in poor condition. Our stay was 3 nights in November 2018. If you wont 4 stars, AVOID.

What I loved about this hotel was how helpful the staff members are there. Hotel itself is a normal 3-4 stars hotel in Saigon. Breakfast Buffett was OK. But the friendliness and devotion of the staff to help made my stay so much better! Location was great too, right in the Old Quarter where all the shopping and drinking is happening all day long.

If you want to stay in the center of the Old Quarter at a reasonable price, this hotel is really good. The service is excellent, the staff was absolutely wonderful and very attentive. The breakfast buffet is delicious and the pool is a nice place to hang out, despite its small size.
What I do not like:
1. It's in the middle of the Old Quarter and super crowded. I thought it would be nice to stay where everything is but realized that it was a tad bit too crowded for my liking. As soon as you step out of the hotel, you step into a street that's almost always filled with scooters and people.
2. I booked the classic room which did not have a window that looks out to the street so we never see daylight from the room. It did have a window but it looks at the wall of the building next door. The hotel was all booked so we couldn't switch room, but I would recommend paying a little extra for a room with a window that actually works when you're booking.
3. The drain in the shower doesn't drain quickly so you have to turn off the water once in a while to allow it to drain or it will overflow to other part of the bathroom.
4. Our last night there, someone was definitely smoking inside the hotel because I can smell it in the hallway. It's unfortunately because there isn't like a smoking and non-smoking floor, any room with a balcony can be a smoking room I believe.
Those were the only few negative things but most are just quirks that probably come with hotels in this area.
Best location. Excellent staff. Highly recommended.

Pro : Very central location, staff were very friendly and always went out of their way to ensure you were being well looked after, very efficient, really could not fault the service level at all.
Con : toilet flushed after about 5 attempts each time you used it and door on the cabinet where the safe was didn’t fully close, so the internal light remained on all through the night, the pool closed at 7pm which was annoying if you wanted to have a dip after dinner
Room 335 does need some upgrading at the balcony area but the quality of the staff at the hotel made its small flaws less prominent day by day. The room is the best one in the hotel right next to the lift and 1 floor down from the bar and breakfast area and pool.Over all the staff at breakfast especially Yen did a wonderfull job. He even greeted me by my family name and got the pronounciation flawlesly right which was a very pleasent suprise. Hannah was so friendly. She did a wonderfull job at greeting us and explaining everything and got us checked in early. When we arrived the check in was fast and promt. The free wine and fruits in room was a lovely gesture from the hotel the added daily free drinks at the bar, executive lvl privalage and spa discount was an added bonus. This hotel is so near to litereally everything. The lake, eating area, the tourist attractions, the market, massage center and even has a 24 hour mart next door.
The only flaw I have to state is that the housekeeping department needs a little more training. They dint smile when you smiled at them. We even tried tipping them. They dint remove the fruit from the room for the entire duration of 5 days during our stay. I filled in the in room guest feedback form but I guess the hotel dint receive it as I have yet to receive an email from the hotel. They did a good job at keeping the rest of the room clean though.

Good location right near the river and the old quarter. The standard room we booked however had no window which was very claustrophobic and when we wanted our laundry done the staff were very rude and refused. Rooftop restaurant was very nice and there was a good selection at breakfast. Would probably stay again if we had a window

The Tirant is very central to good restaurants the markets and a quick stroll to the lake.
The staff are exceptional and so very friendly.
We were able to store our bags while we went to Sapa.
The restaurant for breakfast was great lots of choices and good quality.
Fantastic roof top bar with great views to watch the sun go down.
Rooms comfortable and spacious

Tirant Hotel was a great pick for leisure travel. Excellent location in the Old Quarter with quick walking access to shopping, restaurants, and Hoan Kiem Lake. Most attractions were within a quick $1.25 USD taxi/Grab ride. Staff spoke good English and were professional. "Classic Room, 1 Queen Bed" was a good size for two people and was well-maintained. Rooftop pool had a nice view, and the options offered at the free breakfast on the 11th floor were impressive. Hotel is ~40 minutes from the airport by private car, and ~7 mins from the train station.
4th time staying at this hotel in 5 years. As always it was excellent. Great location in the old quarter. Staff are very friendly. Good small pool area . I have stayed at the intercontinental and Hilton before but for value and location I will always book the Tirant Hotel.

Hotel offered transfer service and the driver was there waiting for us when we came through customs. Very nice. Arrived early at the hotel (about 10am) and were greeted by staff with a cup of tea and refresher towel. Granted early check in (2 rooms) which was awesome. Rooms very nice with the best bed ever. Bathroom large and plenty of hot water and amenities. The pool was great and the roof top lounge/bar the best. What a view and the service was excellent.
Great hotel great staff. Trainee Joy was outstanding.

Booked this hotel as it’s one of the only with a swimming pool in the old quarter. Stayed for three nights but one of the days the pool was closed as it was being cleaned. Bedrooms were ok but not great and not very clean. Breakfast was sufficient but certainly not the best I’ve had. Staff and location are great, overall wouldn’t recommend.

We stayed at the Tirant in June 2017 and thought exceptional. Stayed again last week and didn't have the same feeling, possibly due to a change in staff at reception. The doormen and Chester and his breakfast buffet crew were the highlight of our stay, very welcoming and we loved the tableside chats and assistance heading in and out of the hotel. Hana, customer services, is very nice too.
Some wear and tear obvious over the last 12mths, hope to see the maintenance kept up if wanting to stay 4star and competitive with emerging competition by way of a new hotel next door. The bed in our suite was very hard and when we moved to another room for a 3rd night the bed was nicer.
Fantastic location to access the old quarter and most monuments. Over all we loved it but next time we are in Hanoi likely to try another hotel.
