Great location in old town Hanoi. Walk out the door and leave the tranquil peace of the hotel for the chaos of busy Hanoi. We stayed 3 times over a 3 week holiday as we went out to other areas. The last time we upgraded to a street view room with balcony and loved that. Don't really like an inside room. Staff and service was excellent. Food was good.

hotel moyen sans plus... evitez la vue sur la court elle est horrible, le buffet est plutot moyen, pour ce qui est de la chambre ils auraient pu ajouter des prises de courant il n'y en a qu'1. le pire c'est quand vous voulez prendre un bain, l'eau chaude a fond c'est l'equivalent de tiede, voir froid, impossible de prendre un bain dans ces condition! le sky bar, ce résume a une terrasse de qques m2 vide... en revanche rue trés commercial...
Everyone is super nice. We’re on a busy road so it is a little unnerving to cross it, when we ordered a taxi the staff helped us cross the road to get to it.

De plus il était mentionné près du lac, il est a plus de 400 m

We stayed for three nights in two rooms (2 nights - 1 night cruise Ha Long Bay - 1 night). Our first stay was fine - the hotel is a little dated but clean and tidy. The reception on the TV is bad but that didn’t really bother us.
On our second stay, we arrived at reception at 5pm to be told there was a problem with one of our rooms and the hotel only had the presidential suite available for us. As we were three guests, we had booked a standard room and a luxury suite with twin beds. We were offered the Presidential suite and agreed to take a look at it - we went up and saw that two fold out beds had been placed into the room. As we were tired from our drive back from Ha Long Bay, we begrudgingly accepted. We enquires about a refund for one of our rooms, but we’re told that we were not getting a refund as the Presidential suite is bigger - totally missing the point of the fact that we had booked two rooms in order to have some privacy.
The Presidential suite is certainly not suitable for presidents. The AC is very loud and unresponsive - the room was freezing cold regardless of the temperature set. The fold out beds were uncomfortable and of a much lower standard than the other hotel beds. The shower only had one setting - scalding hot. And in the main living area, there were some LED lights that could not be switched off, making it very difficult to get to sleep.
Clean and well kept and the staff was great and I liked the hotel but their wifi was not so good which was important because I was there on business.

This hotel absolutely exceeded our expectations. The room was a little small by American standards, but more than made up for it with the gorgeous decor and ammenities.The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, helping us with tours, transportation and places to go that were within walking distance. The breakfast buffet had something for all tastes. If we go back to Hanoi again, we will definitely stay there.

We have rented a bike on our very first day. First day we parked our bike at the hotel with no issues however upon parking on the second night, the hotel bellboy was rude that telling us they dont provide parking for guest and telling us he doesn't know anyrhing and refer us to the receptionist, the receptionist told us that we cant parked our bike and need to park s ok somewhere else, we then ask to speak to the hotel manager and he just give us a name card. I am disappointed with the service that the hotel provided and wont recommend friend to stay un this hotel in future.
This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the Golden Silk, and we received an upgrade to the beautiful Presidential Suite, which is AMAZING ! When booking, the larger rooms are on the front, and the difference is price is well worth it.

The room was clean and the staff was really nice. Unfortunately I have an issue with a room without a window to the outside. The room did have a window but it was to the inside hallway providing no daylight whatsoever.

Je suis allé 4 jours à Ha Noi. Très bien accueilli, le personnel agréable et serviable m’ayant aidé à booker un tour pour Ha Long Bay avec une superbe agence de voyage et une excellente guide.
Great stay good food in the restaurant too. Cool area

A good option for a 3-star hotel. The hotel room was nicely maintained. Its breakfast buffet was nice. Hotel is located strategically in the old quarters. Not much interactions from the hotel staffs though. Overall is good.

Good hotel in busy old quarter of Hanoi. Great location to explore the area by foot and also go to the night market on weekends. Hotel was clean, service staff was friendly, breakfast was ok, but expected a little bit more variety. Only negative experience: We got a room on the 8th floor with no windows! This is quite unusal and a little bit depressing. We didn’t spent much time in the hotel because we went on trips, so it was ok at the end.
Everything was great, exept the food. Both the room service and the breakfeast could have been much better...

We arrived late at night after a long and uncomfortable bus trip from Sapa to be greeted at the bus by the doorman with a big smile and assistance our bags. Checking in at reception was a seamless experience with nothing too much trouble for them. We were welcomed and made feel like special and valued clients. Due to the late hour we decided to have room service the ordering was easy and the delivery very quick and again nothing was too much trouble.
Ms Lee the manager certainly knows how to bring the best out in her staff and has the time to make each guest feel as if they are the only guest in the hotel. We emailed prior to arrival to organise an airport transfer which Ms Lee arranged so we knew that every detail was taken care of and we had no worries. Her management style and the way she runs the Golden Silk Hotel should be de-rigour for all top hotels across the world.
We will certainly be coming back and will happy recommend the Golden Silk Hotel to any traveller wishing to have a truly special Hanoi experience.
