Firstly, the staff were 5 star professionals. My room was pleasant and comfortable and the history and design of the hotel speak for itself. Breakfast is geared more for the Asian palate. For me, it was eggs, rolls, coffee. A bit of muesli and raisins would have helped. Also, on the first morning at 7am, there was a "band practice" from an adjoining meeting room that could only be described as a skull splitting caterwaul. I choked down my omelette (an odd mosh of scrambled eggs and half melted cheese chunks) and left a polite complaint at the desk. The racket stopped within five minutes, but I could hear it loud and clear on the second floor. Unreal.
Other than that, things were OK. The room carpet was plain and dismal making me wonder what the original floors might have been like. Bathroom was underwhelming. A decorative tile in the shower was porous and unsealed, not suitable for a wet environment and therefore spotty with mold. A spray of bleach cleanser would take care of this easily.
The second floor has a lovely garden terrace that seemed underserviced and underappreciated. A few lounge chairs might be nice. A nice spot for morning meditation.
I came for the history and knew things wouldn't be perfect, so overall I liked my stay. I like real old wood furniture and not fake plastic wood. The old school vibe here is what it is really all about. Gorgeous hallways, arches and high ceilings.
The hotel was located in a great area close to many attractions and across from the Opera House. As one of Siagon's oldest hotels, it was fun learning about its history. Although some updates have happened over the years, the hotel still feels very 19th century as the hotel was built in 1880 by the French. The morning complimentary breakfast was quite lovely with expansive offerings on the buffet plus special order opportunities.
Our room was one of the more modest rooms facing into the courtyard but, still very comfortable and very quiet.
Grand old hotel, oldest hotel in Saigon, BUT worse service I have ever gotten. The staff didn’t seem to want you there. We were there during the Lunar New Year and the staff was more interested in playing around than helping us. The girl at the tour desk just wanted us out of there rather than helping us. We were told that all tours are closed because of the holiday and we had to book a special car. We found a local tour and they helped us and we had a great time with them and it was for less the price. The staff at morning buffet was eating while serving you.
They also nickel and dime you. We booked a Superior room, room had no windows. They moved us but charged us to have a window. You want to do late check out? They charged us by the hour.
You want to use the Internet? Sure it’s free but it was running less than 1mbps in the evening in our room. I complained and the guy came, used his mobile phone and showed me he can watch a local video. Then left.
Overall, definitely not a pleasant visit.
Wide, antique, kind but loud.
Love the offered bath salt.
Breakfast is great.

This historic hotel was a good value. The location is great. However, the rooms are old and has a smell. The breakfast has a wide selection, but the quality of the food was not great.
The property was in a great location, safe, attractive, old but charming.

Es ist ein älteres Hotel aus der Kolonialzeit mit morbidem Charme. Das Frühstück im gemütlichen Innenhof ist ausgezeichnet

This hotel is near Opera and is nearby all the restaurant.
Negative- The hotel should replace outdated windows 7 to windows 10.
The hotel needs to hire more English speaking computer savvy people.
Every single reception person should be able to convert the computer from Vietnamese to English language for person like me to use.
At the breakfast, the server should be pouring coffee rather than customers have to get their coffee.
Other than this is the best hotel to stay as the staff is wonderful
