Activities: 08h00 depart – 16h00 back to hotel in Hanoi.
Option 1: Bat Trang pottery, Dong Ho Folk-Paintings, DongKy Wood – carving
Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi, drive to Bat Trang, the famous village is situated approx. 15km outside of Hanoi, surrounded by fertile farmland. Watch the artisans forming, painting and glazing their products, which are then baked for several days in huge kilns.
Continue to visit Dong Ho folk-paintings, that is famous for its folk paintings drawn by craftsmen of Dong Ho village in Bac Ninh province.
Proceed to Dong Ky, the famous traditional wood carving village. Watch carpenters forming, carving and polishing wood products, making decorated pictures by snail, oyster shells.
16h00: Get on bus to back to hotel in Hanoi. The tour ends.
Option 2: Thay & Tay Phuong Pagodas, Van Phuc silk village
Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi, drive to Thay pagoda, which is located next to the Sai Son Mountain, in Quoc Oai District, 20 miles southwest of Hanoi (30km). The Thay Pagoda was built in the 11th century following the Sino-Vietnamese character Tam. Therefore the pagoda consists of 3 sections.
The outer section is the place for the ceremonies and offerings. It is called the Ha Pagoda. The second section is the place for praying to Buddha. It is called the Trung Pagoda. The third section is devoted to the Priest Tu Dao Hanh. It is called the Thuong pagoda.
Proceed to Tay Phuong pagoda, not far from the previous pagoda (4 miles-6km). This is a very old pagoda that has been reconstructed many times since it was first built in the 6th century. To get to the temple you have to climb 239 stone steps.
Finally, we visit Van Phuc silk village, which is situated on the bank of Nhue River, 10km from Hanoi on the southwest motorway. The village is in the centre of Ha Dong Town, Ha Tay Province, and the biggest silk production village in Vietnam. The sound of looms has filled Van Phuc for a thousand years, and is a touching sound to villagers when returning from far away.
16h00: Bus back to Hanoi. The tour ends.
