The famous four-star Rex Hotel, in downtown Saigon, is undergoing an extension and renovation, and will open a five-star area in the fourth quarter in this year.

The Rex opened as a French garage, and over 80 years has been a landmark and witness to history.

Now, for the past three years, the extension, in the direction of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh, has been under construction. Inside, it combines modern and Vietnamese cultural design.

The five-star extension wing will have 57 Premier Rooms, 13 Governor Suites and a Presidential Suite.

The Premier Rooms will be 38sqm, bright, luxurious and cosy, with natural materials environmentally, including floor, wardrobe, table and luggage-rack construction of natural wood (cam xe and giang huong).

The Governor Suites will be 75sqm and embrace living room and bedroom. To create luxury and privacy.

With 200sqm, art décor and natural marble and wood, the Presidential Suite will be functional and modern.

The Rex Ballrooms 1 and 2, on the first floor of the new wing, will be able to accommodate large conferences.

With luxurious décor and first-class catering, the Rex Ballroom 1 will be an out-standing performance venue, seminar space, conference hall or entertainment zone for up to 600 business associates.

The Rex Hotel Spa de le Cochinchine will be completely rebuilt and put under new management, using the best design, therapies, staff and ingredients.

The new spa will use marble and wood and brass fitting, in four main areas, women’s, men’s, spa swimming pool, and provide hydrotherapy, with massage shower, Vichy shower, sauna, herbal steam rooms, Jacuzzi and cool plunge pools.

The treatment rooms are individual.

Therapies will come from Europe, Indian, Thailand and Indonesia.

Facial masks and scrubs, body/foot wraps and scrubs will be made from fresh ingredients on the spot.

The Vip rooms are designed for friends and partners and there will be no need to leave the room, as it be fully self-contained, with Jacuzzi treatment beds, showers and manicure, pedicure and foot-massage chairs.

The tropical-garden spa pool will have views of the city and allow time for relaxation after the spa. The pool bar will have exotic fruit juices and a food service.

The staff trainers are Raffles Knowledge. The Rex believes staff performance is of primary importance.
